Edward Tufte, “An Academic and Otherwise Life, An N = 1,” Wednesday, February 21, 2007,
7.00 pm, at the Biolabs Seminar Room (#1068), at 16 Divinity Avenue, Cambridge.
A nostalgic account of ET’s education and careers in statistics, political economy, analytical design, landscape sculpture, book publishing, and consulting. The themes are influential teachers, turning points, and lessons learned. A question session will follow the talk.

Is it ET or Harvard policy to record these types of events?
They’re apparently videotaping for internal use only. I gave a similar talk at Stanford in
December and
it was supposed to be recorded but there was a technical problem.
I’m in Boston giving my one-day course and thus was able to slip in this evening talk,
which will be very much in the first personal singular and not about analytical design.
There is a recent brief interview recorded on the evening January 29, 2007 as I was driven
from San Diego to a public television station to do an interview for a book show. I’d
already used up 150,000 words of talk that day in the one-day course and consequently .
